Celebrating 5 Years in Business!

It’s a special year for the team at Modjoul as we celebrate the company’s 5th birthday. It has been a fast, fun, and exciting time as we’ve come a long way over the years, and we wanted to share the story behind how it all started and our successes.

Founded in 2016, Eric Martinez and Jen Thorson started Modjoul with a mission to improve the safety record of every company. Eric turned to his alma mater, Clemson University, to put together a team of Engineers and Data Scientists. Before long, office furniture was being delivered to an open space above a pizza shop in downtown Clemson, and Modjoul was in business.

Through the first year, our lights over the pizza shop were on longer than the bars in downtown Clemson were open. The hardware, the data models, and the IoT platform were all built in under 1.5 years. By the end of 2017, Modjoul had its first 3 customers.

2018 and 2019 were full of new use cases and new feature development. Blue collar workers and safety professionals were experiencing the data firsthand and implementing the solution within their organizations. By the end of 2020, Modjoul was helping make over 50 fortune 500 companies a safer place to work.

As one can imagine, 2020 challenged the company as our clients focus shifted to keeping their workplace safe in the midst of a global pandemic. Being a startup, Modjoul stayed nimble and used their skills and expertise to develop technology driven solutions to help our current and growing customer base get back to work safely. These challenging times created a better product and stronger relationships for and with our customers.

Since then, the company has gone on to find continued support from new and existing customers. Our client base ranges from small hospitality groups to the world’s largest online retailer. Our product and use cases include lumbar safety, temperature alerts, forklift safety, and operational performance metrics. There really is nothing our team can’t put their heads together on and solve. We want to thank all of you for your continued support, suggestions, and for seeing us to this major milestone. We wouldn’t be here without you.
